Mike Mann

Mike Mann is a qualified accountant and MBA with more than 20 years of managing international economic development projects for the EU, DFID, World Bank, Asian Development Bank and GIZ. He has managed large inter-disciplinary teams in Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East, Central Asia and Caribbean.

 

Mike has extensive experience in corporate restructuring, privatisation, mergers, acquisition and strategic alliances as well as insolvency and corporate recovery. He has carried out projects for many private clients as well as for international donors. Examples of previous projects include:

 

  • Chief Accountant for DFID's Kosovo Post War Reconstruction Programme;
  • Team Leader of EU funded Support for the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Kosovo. This included the development of business incubators and an industrial park as well as founding of the Investment Promotion Agency and the SME Development Agency;
  • Team Leader of EU funded Private Enterprise Restructuring and Privatisation Programme in support of the Government of Egypt Engineering Industries Holding Company. This involved management of a team of more than 70 consultants delivering restructuring and privatisation assistance to 16 very large state owned enterprises.
  • Development of insolvency Quick Scan initiative for monitoring more than 1,000 State Owned Enterprises in Uzbekistan. At the same time, the project carried out pilot restructuring and liquidation of state owned enterprises, trained more than 100 insolvency practitioners and established the Uzbekistan Insolvency Practitioners Association;
  • Team Leader for the privatisation of Karachi Shipyard.
  • Team Leader for the successful privatisation of JSC Western Ship Repair and related enterprises. The company was valued at $12 million and eventually sold for $32 million along with a commitment for investment of a further $15 million and the maintenance of 2,000 jobs.

Mike is also a trainer at both project and university level. He has an extensive range of material in the areas of corporate strategy, accounting and finance and project management.
